Saydet, the Queen of Climoncha, has been beheaded, her husband and son exiled to a harsh and unforgiving desert; a usurper has seized the throne. His name is Megliano, and he calls himself the true king. He has reigned for ten years with a harlot, Hara, by his side. None have openly contested his reign, but that does not speak for what goes on behind closed doors.

Somewhere in the capital city of Carolingia, an illiterate peasant carries a letter containing treasonous words from a pen poisoned against Megliano. He is caught and thrown into the Enogen, an underground prison from which people seldom ever return. However, luck is with the prisoner Taban as the letter falls into the hands of Keoilne, Megliano's trusted advisor. What everyone tends to forget is that Keoilne is of the race of the Ja'hailah, a people that most Climonchans believe to be mythical. The Ja'hailah are a guard that serves the true ruler of Climoncha, which Megliano is not. Keoilne deciphers the letter and, after much thought, decides to take a chance on delivering the missive. He selects a prisoner from the Enogen, the one who shares Taban's cell. His name is Aishen - jailed for stealing a simple piece of fruit at the beginning of Megliano's reign. He is given new clothes and sent on his way to find the recipient who might not even be alive.

Her name is Ariyena. The niece of Saydet, the real heir to the Climonchan throne. Ariyena lives the simple life of a peasant in the Maerf lands, farming the land for as long as she can remember. A woman by the name of Amia is her only friend, but even then Ariyena does not confide all that much to her. As they are sipping ale at the town tavern one evening, a strange man comes in to find Ariyena. This is Aishen, and he has come to deliver Ariyena's letter. Initially, Ariyena does not want to hear what Aishen has to say but reluctantly ends up listening when they converse in private back at her home. Inside the letter is a plea for her to flee to the Ja'hailan forest, to seek protection with the tribe of the Ja'hailah because her life is in danger if Megliano finds out that she is still living. Ariyena says that she will only go if Aishen accompanies her, which he agrees to do because life with the Ja'hailah would be better than going to live the life of a beggar back in Carolingia. Because Amia stumbles in on the conversation and discovers the secret of Ariyena's ancestry, she is brought along too.

Meanwhile, in the desert called the Beleja, a man named Tanmiro wanders aimlessly, kept alive by the only plant that dares to grow there, deringh. His father died long ago, claimed by the harsh climate of the Beleja. He converses occasionally with travellers that pass through the Beleja, just enough to remember how to speak. One night, he happens on a tribe of people, the Mosetki, who are the only people that dare live in the wasteland. The chief of the Mosetki asks Tanmiro for his name, which Tanmiro will not give because he claims that his name is cursed. Maturuh, the chief, brushes off that idea and so Tanmiro identifies himself. He is met with mixed reactions from the rest of the Mosetki - some express disbelief, but most are delighted. After asking Tanmiro what he remembers of his life before exile, Maturuh is able to verify that this is indeed Tanmiro, son of Saydet, and he explains to Tanmiro about his heritage and how he should be on the Climonchan throne right now. Maturuh sends a messenger to the head of the Ja'hailah, Vanilya.

Vanilya can't believe it. Both of the children who were supposed to be dead are still alive, well, and grown - and they are coming to the Ja'hailah camp. She never thought she would live to see the day. The Ja'hailah camp is thrown into a tailspin as they prepare for the royal cousins' arrival. But what will happen once they arrive? Where will they go from there? They will have to decide whether or not to take back the throne, sure, but if they decide on waging war, how will they do it and what will become of them all?

Come journey back in time to the land of Climoncha, a fictitious island set in the seas of Australia. This well-written novel will hold you captive and spellbound from beginning to end. From the untrusting Ariyena to power-hungry Megliano, wizened old Vanilya to the enigmatic Ash'oeval, once the scene is set in the first few pages the action never stops. Full of mystery, plotting, conspiring, and romance, Climoncha has a well-rounded storyline that has something to satisfy everyone. No detail is left unfinished and no loose end untied under the pen of Rebecca Glass.

Rebecca Glass, a twenty-year-old New Jersey native and a Syracuse University scholar, has been working on Climoncha for quite some time. It has taken her several drafts (and several years) to complete the first installment of Climoncha. She lives with her parents and one of two brothers. In her free time, Rebecca loves to read, write, and travel. Her favourite genre is historical fiction and it is safe to say that one of her favourite authors is Margaret Atwood. Rebecca has written countless short stories. She has travelled to Europe and hopes to live there some day. In her spare time, she belongs to The Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza as Firerose Arien, causing her to be known affectionately as 'Fir' to some of her closest friends. Her favourite food is seafood and her favourite colour is red. She watches Jeopardy regularly.
